From yearning for a 30k job to mentoring people earning over 100k per month…
All I wanted was 30k per month.
Yes. Just 30k.
At that time, the most I’d ever earned was Sh. 21k. 4 hard years of earning zero (yes ZERO) to 21k.
Jobs were so slippery. I’d get one and jump in excitement. Only for stories to start coming after a few months (or even weeks).
“Walter, sorry the company is not doing too good, we have to lay you off.”
“We’re unable to renew your contract since this NGO project wasn’t funded.”
“Akolo, I’m hiring you for just two months to…”
“Sorry…”
“No more jobs…”
I lost one job. Then another. Then another.
I DECLARED A FAST…
Every Monday, I’d fast and pray to get a job that would pay me 30k.
Of course on other days I’d fast for lots and lots of spiritual things. But Mondays were for a financial blessing.
Wah! I could feel and smell that 30k. I could finally pay my rent without delay. I could buy meds without having to borrow from the chemist. I could pay that debt to the shopkeepr. I could give more to the church and other spiritual causes.
WHERE IS MY 30K???
Read above again and you’ll notice something. I was relying on JOBS. Offline jobs. Looking for a JOB to pay me 30k.
A campus dropout. A full-time caregiver. A young parent. No credentials. In a swarm of job seekers. Looking for a JOB.
“Where’s my job?” I’d ask myself. Was a JOB where I was to get my 30k? Would getting a JOB help me mentor others (yes I wanted to mentor thousands or even millions of people to BELIEVE)?
MY SURPRISE BLESSING 😊🕺🙏🙏
I was working on a 15k job. I knew soon the stories would come…
“Sorry the job is over…”
The bible still needed me to work so hard, as if I was working for the Lord. I gave my best.
I was still fasting Mondays to get a 30k job someday.
But, this time, something different happened.
A couple of friends told me about working online.
YOU DON’T NEED CREDENTIALS…
…I came to learn.
That this weary campus dropout did not need any credentials to WRITE ONLINE.
And that was my surprise blessing. Online writing as a side hustle.
Yipeee! I made 27k. Me. ME? MEEEEE???
I QUIT my 15k JOB and went to work online full-time.
Second month I made 60k.
I will not talk about the third, fourth and fifth months. By the sixth month, the 30k goal was just but a fraction of what I was earning.
I couldn’t believe it. I could:
✅ pay rent
✅ be a better caregiver
✅ buy meds
✅ pay some little school fees
✅ maybe even take my family out for something nice
Me. The guy with no credentials.
What if I could help many others going through my situation? I instantly added one more goal – to mentor as many as possible to make it online.
NOT ROSY. NOT A QUICK FIX. NOT A LAZY WAY OF EARNING. BUT WORK!
Yes, it’s work. When starting I’d work from 9am to even 3am the next day. Work. Work. Work.
I also did as much as I could to thank God for the blessing and dedicate myself and my family FULLY to God. And to helping others succeed in their tens, hundreds, thousands and even millions.
UPS AND DOWNS
There were many ups and downs. I’ve made mistakes. Big ones. One was very “ouch”. But I’ve learnt from them all. In fact, I’m on a restoration path in many areas.
Working and praying hard to become a better person in all possible ways.
I still fast and pray for many to know how to love and depend on God. For many to also become excellent online writers.
PRAYING FOR GOD TO HELP ME HELP MORE OF THOSE LOOKING FOR JUST 30K
I’m making plans to help more people than ever before, so help me God.
I’m not the richest man or the most successful. I would actually love to be RICH IN GOOD DEEDS.
Hehehehe…in fact what I pride myself in the most is the people I’ve mentored.
Mary Peter couldn’t afford a matchbox, but she recently made 50k in Upwork from a single client.
Daniel was a skeptical writer but he’s now earning over 100k online.
Johnson Nderi earned Sh. 126,800 in December working part-time.
Martha Ngaruye went from beginner to Sh. 40k per week within one month.
I won’t even mention Ann, Patricia, Andia, and many others who are making more than 30k per month from this. Many dreams have come true through what God has enabled me to do.
WHERE DID IT ALL START?
From a dream of just earning 30k some day so that I could feed and support my family.
To a dream of seeing many others getting out of poverty thanks to online work.
The best part?
Lots and lots of decisive, intricate, laser-focused planning and implementing, all enabled by the great power of God.
I got that first Sh. 27k in MAY 2011. That surprise blessing. MAY this MAY be a month of SURPRISE BLESSINGS to you and your family.
